Symbolism can make a story more profound and complete. In The Great Gatsby, Fitzgerald uses symbolism through all the works. You can find symbolism everywhere in the story. There are several colors used for symbolism in this novel. For example, the colors white, yellow, blue and green are used through the book. In The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald applies many important colors that reveal the personality of his characters. Besides, the persons, the locales, the climate, the moth, the cars, the moonlight, the star, the dash valley, the Eyes of Dr. T. J. Ecktelrurg also has their symbolic meanings. These symbolisms help to convey the theme of this novel better and make the scene more vividly and impress readers more deeply.

As early as 1922, Francis Scott Fitzgerald (1896---1940) began designing his major work The Great Gatsby. Three years later, he had it published. No one in 1925 predicted the eminence of the novel in the new century---not even Fitzgerald himself.
